Axe Valley Academy - Uniform Code

The expectation at the Axe Valley Academy is that all students comply with the uniform code. They will be expected to wear the uniform appropriately and that all items are in good order. Students should take pride in their appearance, and be smart throughout the school day, including the journey to and from school.

  • Black, with Axe Valley Academy badge in gold embroidery.  All students are required to wear the Academy blazer throughout the year. The blazer may be removed in lessons with permission from the teacher.

  • Plain white shirt that must be tucked in, with a formal collar. All top buttons must be fastened.   All shirts must be tucked in.

  • Axe Valley Academy clip-on ties are compulsory for all students. Clip-on ties are available from reception for £6.50 (cash only)

  • If trousers are worn they must be plain and black (flares, tight fitting/straight leg and denim trousers are not permitted, this also includes trousers that have exposed zips and poppers).

  • If skirts are worn they must be the official Axe Valley Academy blue and gold skirt. The length must be no more than 2 inches above the knee (the skirts can be fitted by Thomas Moore).

  • Black jumper with the Academy shield can be worn underneath the blazer. The school blazer must be worn with the jumper.

  • Sensible, plain, flat, sturdy, leather and black-soled black footwear is essential. Trainers, boots and canvas shoes are not permitted.

  • In the summer term students will be able to wear shorts. Shorts must be tailored, black and knee length. They must not be cargo style, PE/sports style, Denim, jeans, or stretch fabrics. They must not be torn, excessively baggy, tight or faded

  • Socks must be plain and black.

  • Tights must be plain, black and in good order (e.g. ripped tights will need replacing).

  • Belts must be plain and black.

  • It is acceptable to wear a coat or jacket over blazers before and after school and during break and lunch. These must not be worn instead of blazers. Hooded jumpers are not permitted.

  • Scarves and hats can be worn before and after school and during break and lunch.

  • Hair colouring needs to be natural and discreet. Extremes of colour and styles are not permitted. No hair braids are permitted.

  • Make-up: Make-up, if worn, should be discreet. Students are not allowed to wear false eyelashes. Artificial nails (including gel nails) will not be permitted. Students are not permitted to wear nail varnish.

  • One pair of small stud earrings. Students are allowed to wear one ring. No other jewellery is acceptable e.g. bracelets and necklaces.

  • Students are allowed to wear one round nose stud Facial piercing is not permitted.  This stud must be gold or silver (not a gem) and be no bigger than 3mm. No other facial piercing is permitted and must not be a nose ring or a piercing in any other part of the nose. We do not allow students to be in classes with piercings covered by plasters.

    Tattoos (real or fake)- are not appropriate in the Academy and are not allowed

    Black/yellow long games socks or plain black long socks, Plain white socks

    Sports trainers (not plimsolls)

    Plastic Studded football boots (NO metal studs or blades or astro turf trainers)

    Shin pads

    Mouthguard (years 7 - 10)

    Plain black swim shorts (Year 7 only)

    Plain black tracksuit trouser (Optional)

    Axe Valley reversible rugby shirt is OPTIONAL for boys

  • Axe Valley shirt with collar (girls or standard fit available)

    Axe Valley Shorts or plain black OR Axe Valley Skort or plain black

    Black/yellow long games socks or plain black long socks Plain white socks

  • Pre-loved items of uniform are available from the academy, please contact Miss D Martin (dmartin@axevalley.bep.ac) if you would like to purchase items of uniform from our pre-loved stock (please note that as the stock is from pre-loved items then not all sizes nor all items are available) .
